FAQs

  • You need a trading account with a bank or an online broker and of course, some money and savings that can be invested for a longer term.

It makes sense to optimize your costs for trading and banking services. This, I will support you in the future in finding the right set-up.

  • I can only advise to optimize your costs of trading and banking services. Depending on your personal needs an online broker with low trading and account fees could make sense.

Commissions should never be a factor impacting any investment decision, to trade or not to execute the trade.

In the future I will support you in finding your best personalized solution in your banking set-up which should meet your needs. In case of questions, please get in touch.

If you are among the first subscribers to the Premium Newsletter (annual subscription), you get to know my most preferred trading platform and benefit from a referral code in case you want to open your trading account with.

  • No. My portfolio contains ETFs and single investments. Depending on the investment case and topic, the call is implemented via the best corresponding ETF.

For example, instead of buying the big US Tech company individually, I just buy the ETF on Nasdaq. The combined weight and market exposure of the top 10 companies in the index already exceeds 50%.

  • This is part of the Premium Newsletter. Together with the investment rationale, subscribers also get all the necessary information about the ETF or security specification I would recommend to implement the investment call.

  • To select the best ETF which fits to my personal needs and to implement my investment call, I follow the catalog with my personal selection criteria, like name and reputation of the ETF provider, fees, replication method, trading volume, exchange listing, tax parameters etc.

  • No, I work and want to stay fully independent without any conflict of interest. Therefore, I do never receive nor accept any kickbacks or any other form of payment.

The ETF and product selection is therefore fully independent based on my personal selection criteria and meets absolutely the best-in-class approach.

  • Yes, for very specific investment calls I invest in leveraged ETFs or short ETFs. However, this type of ETFs has special product features which should be known before buying them.

With the higher risk, they should be tracked closely. Only a rather short-term investment horizon makes sense. An example could be an ETF short on volatility instead of going short on the Future of volatility.

  • As the investment opportunity should be easy to implement for every follower, trading in options, futures and complex products are not in focus. Currently, I am mainly invested in equities via single stocks and ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds), based on the investment calls and rationales.

Depending on the market view, some positions are added to the portfolio as tactical calls like bonds and commodities, mostly implemented via ETF. Speaking as a Swiss Franc investor, for my investments, I mainly focus on equities as I believe that this asset class generates above-average and therefore the best returns in the long term.

Depending on the investor and its asset size, in special cases, even specific structured investment products could make sense to add to the portfolio. For investors with a rather lower amount to start investing a base portfolio with a limited number of ETFs would be most appropriate.

  • Yes, there is almost no minimum amount. The most important step is to start the journey of investing to benefit from the returns in the long-term. You can start already with CHF 1’000.

Of course, this journey looks different as you just buy and hold one single ETF. In that case, keep the trading and account fees in mind. The smaller the investment amount, the more they kick-in. You still can subscribe for the Premium Newsletter to learn from my investment and trading strategies.

Or, instead of subscribing to the Premium Newsletter, I am going to support you in the set-up and right investment/ETF selection. Just use the contact form to get in touch and we are going to launch the investment journey together.

  • Investment calls in more complex investment products like options or futures are not in scope in the Premium Newsletter. The focus is on securities within the traditional asset classes, mainly equities, single stocks and ETF investments.

  • I can’t give you a specific number here as this all depends on the dynamics of the financial markets.

Looking at the past periods, there were on average between 20 to 30 investment opportunities during a month for single stocks (talking only about the buy side and overall 3 specific investment categories).

There could be days you will receive more than one mail with an investment opportunity. However, there can be also a period, where markets do not offer any clear opportunity. So far, the lowest number of transactions was around 10 within one month.

  • Sure, there are several important factors within my investment philosophy. I try to mention here the most important ones impacting my investment decision.

First, timing is key. This is a big added value for the overall portfolio returns.

Second, I mainly make anticyclical investment decisions, means buying in falling prices, selling when prices are in the up-move. I do protect some of the profit with stop orders and take partial profit after a certain positive performance. Furthermore, most of the buying transactions are done when I have the impression that the underlying has rather limited downside and therefore more upside potential and therefore rather less risk.

When I missed a buying opportunity, I try to avoid running after an investment which already had a substantial price move, even the price of the security has a certain chance to continue raising even further. I focus on the next opportunity.

Another important factor, I only invest in companies I understand the business model.

For single stock investments, I follow rather a bottom-up analysis while broader investment calls like sector, region, bonds or commodities are based on top-down analysis.

Chart and technical analysis are part of to the overall investment analysis. It is key to understand the broad market sentiment following daily the market moves in the different asset classes, equities, interest rates, currencies, cryptos etc. how they impact each other, analyze and understand what is driving the markets in no time.

However, getting the sentiment on a single security is also a key factor for taking an investment decision. This is only possible thanks to my long-term experience, lots of background information gained over my more than 25years working in the financial industry.

  • No, so far, I did never invest in cryptos. As of today, this is not going to change as, in my view and for my personal investment needs, this asset is too much of speculative nature.

  • Subscribers of the Premium Newsletter have exclusive full access to the list with all my positions in the portfolio and the corresponding investment case.

Part of the portfolio is allocated to ETFs covering tactical calls for mid-term and rather strategic calls in the long-term. Major part of the ETFs are equity based, however also a certain allocation to commodities and sometimes bonds or real estate can be part of my portfolio.

The rest and the major allocation of my money invested is in single stocks. I have 3 different types of investment calls:

    - Buy & Hold: with a long-term investment horizon, like dividend stocks or a broad regional as well as sector allocation

    - Investment or Tactical Theme: with a mid- to long-term investment horizon like alternative energy sector or banks after the banking crisis in March 2023.

    - Rebound and more of speculative nature: short- to mid-term investment horizon after seeing an irrational price move in the underlying offering an investment opportunity for a rebound. Mostly happens after certain newsflow.

  • As a Premium Newsletter subscriber, with every investment opportunity highlighted by the Newsletter, you receive an easy-to-understand investment rationale, as well as some security and trade specifications.

  • All Premium Newsletter subscribers will be informed in real-time when I should see the moment to reduce or sell a security. All positions of my portfolio are tracked as well as all future investment opportunities highlighted.

  • Yes. However, as most private investors do not have a banking set-up which allows to go short, the main focus is on long positions. Nevertheless, there could be a call to go short from time to time, however, rather an exception.

  • I have a different mindset than someone working for a financial institution. I want you to be successful and earn money by taking the investment decision to reach your financial goals easier and a faster way.

I am fully independent and transparent. I do not earn money in case you implement the opportunity or you are doing a transaction. Furthermore, I do not earn anything via product fees, kick-backs nor any other form of payments from product providers.

Hence, I am fully independent and can present you the investment opportunities that you should be able to benefit in certain time horizon. And, I am never forced to try to find any investment opportunity to make transactions earning some trading commissions. There can be sometimes a certain period, it is better to wait and see before making the next decision.

All investment calls shared with my followers of the Premium Newsletter I do implement in my portfolio as well. Each call is based on my best view and should provide added value in your invested money and your portfolio. Not all transactions are going in the right direction. Based on my track-record I can say, that the number of successful trades is way above average.

Following financial markets is my passion. Since more than 25 years, I am looking at the price movements and charts on the big screen or on the phone when-ever and where-ever I am. I never see this as my working time. It is always very interesting to see and read certain patterns which allows me to interpret market actions and investors behavior behind.

  • Sure, if you go to my ETFMandate Blog you find some examples on my broad investment calls highlighted in several publications, e.g. on the US Tech sector, the Nasdaq Index. Going forward, there will be periodic performance reviews.

Stay updated via FREE Newsletter for more examples of specific stock picks and their performance. As a subscriber of the FREE Newsletter, you will also be informed about all transactions executed in the official ETFMandate portfolio, however, only with a certain time lag.

Subscribers of the PREMIUM Newsletter will have exclusive access to all the actual positions held in my portfolio.

  • This is definitely what I am trying to do. The investment opportunities I am sharing instantly with all Premium Newsletter subscribers are all implemented in my own portfolio. And my plan is definitely to make money.

There are no guarantees in financial markets. Making money through investing depends on various factors, including market conditions, the nature of the investments, and individual investment decisions. It’s important to remember that all investments carry some level of risk, including the potential loss of principal. I therefore advise that you consider your personal financial situation, risk tolerance, and investment objectives before making investment decisions.

  • Yes. To be able to start investing, you need a trading account, either via a bank or online broker. Depending on your personal needs an online broker with low trading and account fees could make sense. Their tutorials will guide you through placing an order.

In the future I will support you in finding your best personalized solution in your banking set-up which should meet your needs. In case of questions, please get in touch.
